In order to work in clinical psychology you will need a psychology degree, probably at doctorate level. Many people gain a bachelor's psychology degree and then go on to gain a PhD in a specialty that interests them and that they are likely to work in.
You can study on a full time or part-time basis, and many people have a program of continuing education during their career in psychology, using distance learning programs. You can find a position as an organizational psychologist, working in industry or as a school psychologist is you have a master's level psychology degree.
A Career in Clinical Psychology
Having gained your psychology degree, you can then start your career in psychology by choosing your specialty in clinical psychology. Many clinical psychologists work as counselors, helping people to work through the problems that have beset them; such problems may include divorce, unemployment, or health issues, such as giving up smoking, losing weight, or drug and alcohol dependency.
Other clinical psychology specialties include working with people who have had accidents or strokes, helping them to cope with the resultant disabilities and the changes in their lives.
A career in psychology can be interesting and varied, as well as lucrative, and many clinical psychologists carry on studying and doing research throughout their professional lives. You will need some determination to become a clinical psychologist, but the rewards make it well worthwhile.
